Endowment Importance

Endowments (002).JPG

Endowments are valued by the University of North Texas as a consistent source of perpetual funding that has multi-generational impact.  Through the generosity of donor gifts, endowments are established as permanent funds which provide sustainable sources of future funding in place of state funding, which is in significant extended decline. These endowment funds are distributed to the University in support of a donor’s designated area of support.  This support may take the form of scholarships, professorships, endowed chairs, or other programs which the donor wishes to sponsor in perpetuity.

The UNT Foundation prudently manages endowment assets by applying durable investment principles, including diversification, periodic re-balancing, and diligent investment research and monitoring, to generate long-term positive returns while controlling risk.  Our long-term objective is to generate returns that adequately provide for distributions, expenses and inflation.
