UNT and UNT Foundation led region's universities in endowment growthIn recent articles comparing statistics as of June 30, 2003, UNT's and the UNT Foundation's growth in average total return on investments and endowment growth were heralded as being well above the national average. 'The Jan. 23, 2004, edition of the Chronicle of Higher Education reported that college and university endowments across the United States earned a modest 3 percent average total return on investments in the 2003 fiscal year. In its Jan. 23, 2004, issue, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram stated that UNT's endowment growth led all schools in our region, including the powerhouse endowments of Southern Methodist and Texas Christian universities. It also ranked UNT's endowment as 16th among all Texas universities and colleges as of June 30, 2003. Both publications used a combined average total return on investments of both UNT's endowment and the endowment held by the UNT Foundation, which are managed separately.
