The UNT campus is bustling these days with construction, improving academic programs, expanding enrollment, an active student life and a new College of Engineering. Alumni and friends care passionately about such individual programs at UNT, and they have responded generously.

With the establishment of the Cornerstone Funds — a permanent endowment to support the institution's overall opportunities for future excellence — a new source of pride is going to be the ability to say, "I gave it 110 percent."

Supporters are encouraged to give 100 percent to where their passion lies and then stretch themselves to donate an extra 10 percent to invest in the university's future through the Cornerstone Funds.

"UNT is not a wealthy institution and it is hard to invest in the long term future when we still have current needs," says UNT System Chancellor Lee Jackson.

"But, it's important to us to start building the Cornerstone Funds so that we serve our students even in tough years and maintain our momentum year in and year out. The bedrock of a great university is the ability to respond to new opportunities and sustain improved services."

When donors give to the Cornerstone Funds, their gifts will become part of a permanent commitment to serve the highest and best purposes of the university.
"Our goal is to hear alumni saying, 'North Texas was a great institution while I was there, and now it's becoming even better,'" says UNT President Norval Pohl. "Through our collective efforts, the Cornerstone Funds will help us realize our vision of exceeding student and alumni expectations. 'Stretch' gifts to this vision of excellence truly reflect the trust and respect alumni hold for their alma mater." •
