"The bedrock of a great university is the ability to respond to new opportunities . . . " |

With the establishment of the Cornerstone Funds — a permanent endowment to support the institution's overall opportunities for future excellence — a new source of pride is going to be the ability to say, "I gave it 110 percent." Supporters are encouraged to give 100 percent to where their passion lies and then stretch themselves to donate an extra 10 percent to invest in the university's future through the Cornerstone Funds. "UNT is not a wealthy institution and it is hard to invest in the long term future when we still have current needs," says UNT System Chancellor Lee Jackson. "But, it's important to us to start building the Cornerstone Funds so that we serve our students even in tough years and maintain our momentum year in and year out. The bedrock of a great university is the ability to respond to new opportunities and sustain improved services." When donors give to the Cornerstone Funds, their gifts will become part
of a permanent commitment to serve the highest and best purposes of the
university. Article by Laura Short, reprinted with permission from the North Texan magazine.
